Ring of Fire? I think NOT!

November, the time of unpredictable whether and cold.
Lots and lots of cold.

Of course, by the time next year rolls around, you will have forgotten today, and the brutally cold wind that struck your town--well that is, if you were struck by wind. My town was ridiculously cold today compared to yesterday, I went out in jeans, a t-shirt, and a hoodie yesterday; today I walked outside and walked right back in. It was cold, especially for the Midwest. So, regretfully, I plucked an evil coat from our coat closet and declared something that morning: This weekend, I will obtain a coat that will not swallow me whole or let me freeze.

Since this is the weekend of Black Friday I find this to be a big challenge, but I await it valiantly. Also, I have been browsing online and found many a places have cute coats. If you need one and you're a teenager, check out these sites:

www.jcpenney.com
www.dillards.com

Venture out while you're at it and look everywhere, there are good coats in the most unsuspecting places. Also remember, when shopping for coats, wear the most layers you wore in fall, chances are you'll need a roomy coat.

Inventory

Whenever it's time to embark on a new journey, it's probably a good idea to take inventory, so that's exactly what I've done. Mind you, it's only of the clothes I wear outside.

Casual Clothes:

5 V-neck tee shirts
2 Crew-neck tee shirts
5 shorts
4 jeans
2 white tank tops
3 camisoles
3 Long-sleeve Scoop, Crew, and V-neck tee shirts
2 Hoodies
1 Jacket
1 Coat--a big heavy Columbia brand honker

Formal Clothes:

2 Pants
2 Sweaters
1 Button-down tee shirt
1 Dress [from Homecoming, not at all useful in day to day life]

As you can tell, there is a pattern: boring. But on the plus side, I've beaten the 'women only where 20% of their wardrobe 80% of the time' old wife's tale into the dust. So it looks like I've got some good basics and that's good.

You have to have basis so you can build off of them, that's what you've always been told; it's been beaten into us since we were little children. [Not literally--I hope--I mean metaphorically, just that it is stated almost every day.]

So for now, I'm going to ponder and try to make a general rubric to follow to achieve the current goal: Show how amazing you are on the inside to everyone looking at your from the outside.

Let's see how this works out.

A New Day--A New Start

The beginning of the week always seems promising, making goals and waking up late, but some days it just doesn't seem like enough. Today was that day.

I woke up an hour ago, looked into my closet and grabbed the usual--jeans (dark wash and boot cut), a camisole (grey), and a v-neck tee shirt (green). It has almost become like a uniform, however at that very moment I thought nothing of it.

Then I walked into the bathroom, I smelled soap and a very distinct floral scent. My mother had left all her make up out on the counter again--which always seemed to confuse me, makeup just didn't seem to have a point in my life because the colors were smothering.

After my shower I brushed through my curly hair and let it air dry, it is currently in a side pony tail again. See the pattern? I hope so, but if not, go back and read again. This had become my daily life; boring and unoriginal was my outside appearance, even though I am nothing like that.

I took a step back from the mirror and looked myself up and down and said it's time for a change. It's time to begin the day anew; to keep up with the positive thinking I did one thing, I began this blog to keep track of my change on the outside, but make sure I changed nothing on the inside, because if I begin talking like this: 'So, umm. I went to PacSun last week and totally bought the cutest hoodie in the world even though it was eighty dollars and I totally failed my Chemistry test, but it was all worth it', then I might just go insane.

Now I have nothing against the girls who do that, but coming from a strict Indian family and priding myself in the A- I have in Chemistry, I'd first die before I actually fail a test in there, especially over a hoodie which is ridiculously overprice. (And yes, I realize that PacSun does not sell hoodies that expensive, but it was an exaggerated example; I picked the first store that popped into my head.)

I really do hope you come along on the journey and we can both learn a few things. Even if this fails to be a success we can at least say we tried.
